How do I hire the boat?

Use the book now page to request your date, fill out the enquiry form, then wait to hear back from us for confirmation. Please note we require a $250 deposit to then secure your date.

We keep an eye on the weather leading up to your booking and are in touch 3 days prior to settle the full hire fee and the bond amount.

On the day of hire we give you a full induction as well as safety briefing to ensure you are confident to use Longshot. We gather further details of your trip plan as well as passenger information, and ensure you have all the gear to have a great, safe day out on the water.

On completion of your hire period we check over the boat with you, and once satisfactory we refund the bond within two working days.

We aim to take away the stress and maintenance of owning your own boat and are always striving to provide a great service, so please do get in touch through email, chat or phone if you have any questions.

What experience do I need to hire?

You need to be a confident boater and have a strong understanding of Maritime NZ regulations. We require you to fill out a booking form prior to confirmation, which helps us to understand your experience.

When is my booking confirmed?

Accepted Answer

When we have received the booking request form, trip plan and the deposit of $250 your booking will be confirmed by us through email. Please answer the forms as accurately as possible as this helps us to ensure you are covered by our insurance.

How long is the hire period?

Full day Hire- From 6am to 6pm 
Half Day Hire Morning- 7am to 11.30am
Half Day Hire Afternoon- 1.30pm to 6pm

Question 6

Do you launch the boat for me?

We can do! Longshot is based on a trailer in Beachlands, Auckland therefore we launch at any of the East Auckland boat ramps (subject to tide times).  If your car does not have a towbar or you would simply like us to launch and retrieve, let us know and we will take care of it for a small charge.

Do I need to pay for fuel?

Yes. The boat comes with a full tank of gas. At the end of the return period we refuel and then refund you the bond minus the cost to refuel
